What to Recycle
How to Recycle
Recycling is not a difficult job. With just a little bit of practice it will become second
nature. Here are some helpful hints to consider.

Avoid the "Sorting Myth" that recycling takes to long. Each and everyday we sort our
laundry, dishes, where what goes, and what to wear.

Recycling is easier than any of the sorting techniques you already use.
Its simple. Plastic with Plastic, metal with metal, paper with paper, clear glass and
colored glass.

Once you have set up your recycling system it takes mere seconds to place things in
their proper containers. Everyday we waste more natural resources simply because
of this myth.
Recycling Myths and Facts:
Blue bagging works. Absolutely not true. Blue bagging has never been a successful
source for recycling. You can and will loose a great percentage of your materials at
the end facility with this process. Cross contamination can make some materials
unusable thus requiring more natural resources. Think before you act. Glass placed
in bags and then loaded onto a truck with crushing capability will cause that glass
to become broken and mixed with all the other recycled materials. You then lose a
percentage of your recycled materials because no facility that we know of can
separate clear from colored glass.

Then there are the dangers to health. If a glass bottle has been placed to
someones lips then that bottle has become contaminated. If that same bottle
breaks and cuts someone then they have been exposed to a variety of health
hazards. Not only are you saving more natural resources by sorting clear from
colored you are also cutting down on health dangers.

All Plastics, numbers 1-7. There is no size or shape requirement. If it has the
recycle emblem the we recycle it.  It's that simple.

However, if it is able to be composted we would prefer to dispose of it in that manner
since that is the greatest benefit to the environment. This is PLA plastic which is
made from cornstarch.

Metals.... ALL Metals can be recycled.

Glass- All bottle glass can and should be recycled. To better help the recycling
process we need to separate the clear glass from the colored glass . . . You can take
clear glass and make colored glass; however, you cannot take colored glass and
make clear. If we are not taking that extra step in separating the two then we are
still using too many natural resources.

Paper. All paper should be recycled, however having white paper separated from
other paper is the best way to recycle it as well. White paper has many more
recycling benefits than mixed types of paper.

Cardboard is very easy to recycle. Of all the products we use it is one of the
greatest destroyers of forests, yet it is the simplest of all materials to recycle. Just
make sure you have no waxed cardboard in your cardboard recycling bin and break
down and stack the cardboard to be recycled.
Now today, while its in your hands, on your mind, part of your thought process-
