Special Emphasis Program Manager Course

Using cases studies, engaging learning activities, and class discussions, this course focuses on the core knowledge and competences necessary for participants to serve as effective collateral-duty or full-time Special Emphasis Program Managers (SEPMs).  Participants will learn the foundational principles for implementing, assigning responsibility, and managing results-driven special emphasis programs (SEPs).  Participants will learn the skills necessary to pinpoint workplace barriers, EEO issues, and work with management to develop workable solutions.  Additionally, participants will learn how to develop an annual EEO/SEP action plan.

Course Topics Include:

•Roles and responsibilities of the Special Emphasis Program Manager 
•Legal framework and policy that support SEPs
•Theories of discrimination
•Culture and values
•Perceptions impact on decision-making in the workplace
•The nexus between EEO, AEP, SEP and Diversity and Inclusion
•Identify triggers and barriers (MD-715)
•Gain an enhance understanding of disability and reasonable accommodations
•Planning a first-class SEP
•Develop an EEO/SEP action plan
•Generation differences and its impact on the workforce

Duration
8:30a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Participants must be able to attend complete day of instructions to receive certificate
